I had to bail at a minute ten. Most popular American music is TERRIBLE. What do I have to say about Canadian music? Hrm..I don't even have much of an opinion to offer there because it's something of a non-entity. British music. That's where it's at.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying pop music. She is the byproduct of a fame starving culture that has had to cave on everything socially unacceptable. So the end result is something quite bland and ridiculously mundane. They over used autotune to enhance her voice. Really the net in the US has obsessively complained about it all week, but I think people are discovering how incredibly superficial it is, and tired of it.

ReplyDeleteThis song is one great representation of what happens when a culture becomes obsessed with that fleeting, brief ultra-beautiful youth phase, in all its artifice, insincerity, shallowness and ignorance. These kids rolling along in their convertible car, LOL-ing and cheering for Friday are only plugged in to each other--all day, all night, and there're no nuclear reactors about to blow in their world, nor are there entire American cities wiped out by their own defunct auto industry.
